Look what I can do!
I'm proud to offer a wide variety of creative services.
I’ve tried really hard not to get pigeon-holed as a ‘specialty designer’. By that, I mean not gaining recognition solely as a web designer, video editor, packaging expert, etc. I’ve made concerted efforts to broaden my skill set and practice a wide array of design disciplines as well as creative styles. This discipline is more difficult than it sounds, but very rewarding.
Competitor analysis, strategic brand development, logo design and style guide writing… bringing the core elements of the brand promise in a smart, repeatable form is bliss.
Masterfully capturing all of light’s characteristics on a specific subject or scene. Careful attention paid to tonalities, focus and composition. I love the gear, the craft, the process and editing of this skill.
Branded ‘origami’ of message delivery. Panels, flow, two-color, full-color, paper stock… I really enjoy printed marketing that ends up in a person’s hands. Tactile marcom is where it’s at.
Luxurious visual space, glossy paper stock, rich photography or illustrations, paired with clever copy make for a designer’s dream project. I hold clever, effective print ad design in high regard.
Materials, surfaces, spaces, lighting, demos, videos – immersive branding. Exhibit design can be loads of work, but the gratification of great concept and execution in this medium is well worth the effort.
Box, bag, shrink-wrap, label, cans, bottles, die cuts – designing in 3 dimensions is a great thrill. Pushing brands forward and informing customers. Yes!
Deluxe paper stock, inks and high production value are typically found in these projects. I enjoy the approach these books tend to leverage the data sections – graphs, charts, tables, etc.
In-store displays, banners, signage, labels, posters – informing and influencing the viewer. These design projects are typically very rich and vibrant with strong character and simple messages.
My favorite class in art school was Editorial Design. I enjoy the emotion, flair, persuasion and rich typography, illustration and photography that help support the message.
I’ve been involved with many tv spots and even a few national infomercial programs. Incorporating professional video, audio and creative CG can be labor-intensive, but very rewarding challenge.
Tight script, high-caliber voice talent, great music bed, spot-on effects, bumpers – recipe for a great spot. I enjoy recording, editing and producing radio commercials.
Slates, timecode, pacing, context, push/pull, supers, thirds – stories in motion. Editing is similar to conducting an orchestra. I love molding a story with my given ‘cast’ (a/v assets).
Mics, gain, isolation, gates, compression, reference monitors, mixers – studio fun! I’ve worked on audio for several media outlets: music industry, commercial music beds, radio spots, on-location audio for video productions, etc.
It’s an ever-changing web industry – HTML, CSS, Js, jQuery, Flash, Php, CMS, IA/UX, prototypes, databases. I’m kept on my toes, designing for and programming web solutions.
Rich media, games, animation, volumes of content and immersive environments are strategically leveraged in disc authoring projects. I’ve designed several B2B and B2C CD-ROMs throughout my professional career. Fun stuff!
Online product catalogs with style and ease of use are a tough design challenge. There is no “one size fits all” solution for all online storefronts. I’ve designed several great online shopping experiences during my career. Proud.
Workflow diagrams, sitemaps, sketches, wireframes, schemas, charts, prototypes, etc. – architecting rock-solid, effective web solutions. Strategic due diligence
Semantic markup, rich and relevant content, organic optimization, meta data, pay per click, campaigns, analytics – rising above the search engine clutter and getting quality content to target audiences.
Smart, pithy, exciting relevant, interactive presentations that communicate with effectiveness and style. Breaking old methods with new thinking and slick design.
Aperture, dolly, crane, pan, follow focus, lighting, sound – motion capture to tell a story and communicate a brand message. I’ve been fortunate enough to operate dolly shots, jibs, steadicam, etc. while shooting a variety of video projects. Action!
